Tues, August 18 – One Year of Craftsman Guild

When: 7:00 pm | Where: Grand Circus – 1570 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI

craftsman guild DetroitBack by popular demand! We’re going to take the entire night to practice our software development skills by practicing test-driven development in pairs. This is a different sort of event. It is hands-on so bring a laptop (more details below in the “What to Bring” section) and a healthy bit of curiosity.

Our goal is create a technology-agnostic user group for local Detroit software professionals who want to stay current in an industry in which there’s no way to stay totally current. The current plan is to have a healthy mix of hard and soft talks (tech vs. dev practices) as well as hands-on coding events from time to time.

Tues, August 18 – Girl Develop IT – Intro to JavaScript

When: 6:00 pm | Where: Grand Circus – 1570 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI

GDIJavaScript is the language of interactivity on the web. If you want to learn programming, JavaScript is a pretty good place to start! Over the course of this session we will explore the basics of programming in JavaScript, then learn some of the wide variety of modern, dynamic, and fun things you can do with it!

Want to learn how to code? Have a great idea? Don’t be shy. Develop it. It can be intimidating for women to learn and ask questions when they are in an extreme minority. While open and welcoming, today’s budding developer community is up to 91% male. Our courses focus on coding, leveraging existing technology, and having something to show for it (aka building sweet websites).
