Our troops have given their time, courage and in some cases their lives to ‘insure domestic tranquility,’ but coming home to a country in economic crisis has left many skilled workers unemployed.
According to the United States Department of Labor, veterans who have served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001 are experiencing a 12.1 percent unemployment rate, with young male vets under the age of 25 suffering 29.1 percent unemployment.
Helping those find employment who have sacrificed so much shouldn’t be our choice, but our duty. Brightwing is participating in the United States Chamber of Commerce initiative, Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) on April 11,2012 at the Ford Theatre & Community Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, MI. HOH is more than a career fair but a nationwide initiative to help Veterans find meaningful employment. Meaningful being the operative word.
“Considering the time and sacrifice our veterans have given to support freedom and security for our families here at home, we at Brightwing believe that they deserve our best efforts to afford opportunities in the workplace to provide for themselves and their families upon return,” said Brightwing President George Albert.
